Class Descriptions:
1. CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) - (3.0 Hours) : - American Red Cross guidelines and training of CPR. - Includes: assessing, rescue breathing, breathing emergencies, specialized CPR technique and performance, and proper AED usage.
2. FIRST AID (3.0 Hours): - Includes: anatomy of a first aid kit, soft tissue injuries, injuries to muscles, bones and joints, sudden illness, heat and cold related emergencies, injury prevention, incident stress, substance abuse, asthma, epinephrine auto-injector usage, and special situations & circumstances.
3. FOOD SERVICE/SANITATION ( 1.0 Hours ) - Includes: nutrition basics, special diets, menu planning, behavioral concerns related to eating, food handling and storage, buying and storage, and food sanitation.
4. ASISSTANCE WITH MEDICATION ( 4.0 Hours ): - Includes: the proper assistance of various classes of medications, record keeping, medication storage, assistance techniques, medication carts, and medication disposal.
5. - UPDATE - ASSISTANCE W/ MED. ( 2.0 Hours ):
6. RESIDENT'S RIGHTS/ABUSE ( 1.0 Hours ):
- Includes: resident’s rights, the Ombudsman council, abuse, neglect, exploitation, activities, overcoming barriers, as well as resident council. 7. HIV/AIDS ( 2.0 Hours ):
- Includes: epidemiology, pathophysiology, universal precautions and prevention, OSHA standards. 8. INFECTION CONTROL (1.0 Hours):
- Includes proper handling of used patient-care equipment soiled with blood, body fluids, secretions, and excretions. - Also including: infection control in the long-term care facility, common infections, the control of infectious diseases, drug resistant organisms, hand washing technique, and shaping client outcomes. 9. HANDLING EMERGENCIES ( 1.0 Hours ):
Includes: disaster preparedness in the long-term care facility, fire safety in the workplace, bio-terrorism, knowing what to do.
